Learn to Bellydance and achieve greater levels of personal fitness, empowerment and self-esteem! This ancient art form from the Middle East took its modern name in the puritanical Victorian era when clothing covered all and then some. Explore the sensuous movements of this ancient dance while expressing yourself with creativity and femininity.

This class will introduce and develop the essential movements and techniques of bellydance. We will teach the beginning techniques of muscle isolation, balance and coordination. We will also introduce fundamental movements such as shimmies, chest and hip circles, and figure-eights.

Wear comfortable form-fitting clothing ,which will allow you to see your body movements (yoga attire is appropriate). Footwear can range from dance sneakers to foot undies or bare-feet. Hip-scarfs are optional but recommended.

Drop-ins ($15) are allowed during the first week of class only unless you have instructor permission.
